about EGO PLUM AND THE EBOLA MUSIC ORCHESTRA…

The Ebola Music Orchestra was a musical project and band formed by Ego Plum, a composer known for his eclectic, avant-garde style. The group was active during the late 1990s and early 2000s and was a creative outlet for Ego Plum’s experimental compositions, blending elements of cabaret, punk, classical, and electronic music. Their music often featured humorous, macabre, and surreal themes.

The band name itself was provocative and designed to evoke curiosity and unease, aligning with the quirky and offbeat nature of Ego Plum's artistic vision. The Ebola Music Orchestra became a platform for Plum to explore unconventional sounds and push the boundaries of traditional musical forms.

Though the project is no longer active, it contributed to establishing Ego Plum’s reputation as a unique voice in music and helped pave the way for his later work in television. Amy Winfrey, who went to create Making Fiends attended the Ebola Music Orchestra's first record release party and hired Ego Plum as composer for the series soon after attending the show.
